Soft Mixed Media Florals with Sizzix Studio by Isha Gupta

Hello and welcome everyone! I am Isha, sharing some mixed media cards after quite some time. There are lots of gorgeous new products in the Scraphouse shop. Check them out.

Mixed media cards always have a special charm - soft layers, beautiful textures, and a slightly imperfect artistic feel that makes every card unique. Today I’m sharing three mixed media floral cards created using Sizzix Studio by Willow Wolfe stamps, Distress inks, Spellbinders stencil and simple layering techniques.

What I love most about these cards is how easy it is to create soft artistic backgrounds and then build dimension with florals. Each card has its own personality while using similar supplies! I have used mostly these supplies. You can always use what you have.

Distress Inks
Ranger Texture Paste
Watercolor paper
Waterproof Black ink
White splatter

Card 1 — Soft Watercolor Floral Background

Start with watercolor paper for the best mixed media results
Apply Distress inks to create a watercolor wash
Stamp the delicate florals using black ink and color

Add texture using stencils, and various stamp images
Add light splatters for extra texture
Stamp sentiment vertically for a modern look
Mount onto a card base

Card 2 — Soft Layered Floral LOVE Card

Create a soft textured background using light distress ink watercolor
Add subtle texture using stencil and embossing paste
Stamp and emboss large florals onto vellum, color and fussy cut

Add bold sentiment "LOVE"
Finish with light splatters

Card 3 — Bright Mixed Media Floral Card

Create a vibrant mixed media background using multiple distress inks
Add texture using various stamps, stencil, texture paste.
Stamp and color florals in bright tones

Cut out florals and leaves
Arrange florals diagonally for movement
Add sentiment
Finish with splatter

What I love about mixed media is that there’s no right or wrong way. I feel it's a perfect way to de-stress too.

I'd love to know - Do you prefer soft pastel mixed media or bright bold florals?
Let me know in the comments below - I always love hearing your thoughts!
If you try these techniques, tag me - I’d love to see what you create!

Tupips and Daffodils Card

 Buongiorno creative, come state?

Good morning, crafters!

How are you?

Today I’m showing you this card made with the new collection designed by Yana Smakulaper for Spellbinders. The set I used includes a press plate and the matching “Tulips and Daffodils” stencils.

I created four foiled card using the hot foil machine, three of which I colored with Copic markers, while I colored the one in the bottom right corner with Distress Oxide ink, using the stencils from the set. After comparing the different color schemes, I decided to choose the image I thought worked best with a black background. After trimming the edges of the bouquet, I colored the remaining white areas with a black marker.

Finally, I used the Molded Frame embossing folder with black cardstock to create the background, added some gold splashes using gold watercolor paint, and included a foil-stamped sentiment from the Betterpress Foil and Die Bouquet of Hugs set.

I hope this inspires you. Have a wonderful day and a great weekend!

Pinkfresh studio Fragrance notes

 Buongiorno card makers,
come state?

 Good morning, card makers,
How are you?
Today I’m here to show you these two cards made with the new products from Pinkfresh Studio.

- Pinkfresh Studio Fragrance notes press plate , Fragrance notes die  e Fragrance notes stencil.

- Distress Oxide Tattered rose, Saltwater taffy, Bundled sage, Speckled egg.

On their official website, you can see the variety of cards they’ve created with these products. The cards designed by their design team are each more beautiful than the last. I admit that when I see so many beautiful cards, I get a little stuck because I don’t want to create something “of my own” without being influenced. So I decided to do several tests on different colored cardstock, and in the end, what I liked best was the combination with Canson gray watercolor paper.

The materials I used are as follows:

- Pinkfresh Studio Fragrance Notes press plate, Fragrance Notes die, and Fragrance Notes stencil.

- Distress Oxide Tattered Rose, Saltwater Taffy, Bundled Sage, Speckled Egg.

For this first card, I used all four Oxide inks with stencils to create both the background and to color the flowers. I cut out a circle and added sequins to create a shaker card, and on the background behind the “window,” I blended Tattered Rose and Saltwater Taffy Oxide inks onto white cardstock.

Spero vi siano piaciute queste card, vi auguro buona giornata e buon weekend!

For the second card, I colored the flowers the same way as on the previous card, but for the background I used only Tattered Rose and Saltwater Taffy, and then added some black splatters using Spellbinders Raven ink.
I hope you enjoyed these cards. Have a great day and a wonderful weekend!

Step up a background

Hello crafty friends

Today I’m sharing another card with the Bold Number Die. I used the same the design as last time but changed up de background.

For the background I used the Party Balloons from Simon Hurley. I embossed the background on white paper. Then I added a light color over the entire panel with a big blending brush, so it’s not on white cardstock. You just have to take colors that work together and really be light handed.

Then I added the colors to the balloons with the coordinating stencils. I tried to use more ink on the outside of the balloons, so you can create some depth. For more interest I added some gold splatters. I also traced the edges of my background with Versamark ink and added gold embossing powder.

I also trimmed my background slightly thinner then my card, this little white trim makes to stand out everything even more.

What do you like to do to step up your backgrounds?

Thanks for stopping by.

Adriana

Hallo, liebe Bastelfreunde

Was machen Sie gerne, um Ihre Hintergründe aufzuwerten?

Vielen Dank für Ihren Besuch.

Adriana
